Season 2 Preview: Mending the Divide

Season 2 Preview: Mending the Divide

March 3, 2021

The past few years have brought tremendous polarization in our country and the world. Whether political differences or social injustice, competing news sources or arguments on social platforms – people are becoming more and more divided all in the eyes of the public square. But how do we repair this extreme polarization? How do we better relate to one another despite differences? What can we do? That is why the theme of all of these conversations Pastor Bob will be having during season 2 will be focused on “Mending the Divide”.

We like to think that if your faith ventures beyond the walls of your church, or tribe, or religion – into the world with people who thought differently than you. And have a realization to see people as beings made in the image of God – it would radically change people’s mindset. We plan to facilitate discussions surrounding guidance & wisdom on suggestions on what it will take to begin to mend our divides. We ask you the listener, to come on this journey with us with an open mind to relate to others despite your differences without compromising your faith.

During this preview, we ask Pastor Bob, with what has transpired over the past couple of years in our nation, why do you think having discussions around finding ways to halt the growing polarization and large divide we are seeing is critical.

We’d hope you’d join us on this story-telling journey focused on encouraging you the listener to live out your faith boldly, how to better love your neighbor and to learn how to relate to others despite your differences without compromising your faith.

S1E9- Imam Dr. Omar Suleiman | Role of Faith in Social Justice & Bridge Building

December 21, 2020

On the final Bold Love episode of the year, Pastor Bob interviews Imam Dr. Omar Suleiman. We deep dive into faith's role in social justice, how Muslims & Christians should build relationships despite differences for the good of society & the future of American Muslims.

Omar is a renowned Muslim scholar and faith-driven activist for human rights. He is the Founder and President of the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research, and an adjunct professor of Islamic Studies in the Graduate Liberal Studies program at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. In addition to being recognized by CNN as one of 25 Muslim American changemakers, Suleiman is included in The Muslim 500 - an annual ranking of the world's most influential Muslims compiled by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre

He is a New Orleans native and in addition to talking delicious cajun cuisine, we get to discuss how faith played a role in his upbringing, how his faith drives him to stand up & speak up for injustices seen locally and globally, how he urges Muslims & Christians to build deeper relationships with each other even with a disagreement in theology for the good of society and how American Muslims have been on a rocky roller coaster ride with US administration, policies and the two major political parties in general and what that looks like moving forward.

S1E8 - Beth Moore | Facing Controversy, Standing Against Injustices & Loving Valiantly

December 7, 2020

Beth Moore has seen her share of criticism from her own tribe for speaking out against some sinful behavior of leadership along being compelled to point to a somewhat hidden part of the evangelical culture.

Beth is a best-selling Christian author and Bible teacher from just outside of Houston, Texas. She is the founder of Living Proof Ministries which is a Bible-based organization focused on encouraging women to come to know and love Jesus Christ through the study of Scripture.

We discuss with her how her home was not her safe place growing up, the story of her shock when her pastor first asked her to teach at the church, her deep examination of what the scriptures say on women’s role in ministry, and how she’s dealt with the sharp criticism she’s received from her own tribe.
